"Hi. How ya doin'?"

Hi! This is my first blog and I didn't really know what to write. So I thought I would introduce you to my friend...

I don't know his name.......James! I like James. Yeah, James is a good name!
Meet James.

My name is Shelby and I'm really glad it's fall. I can't stand the heat.
I hope to get better at this the more I post.
One of the reasons we started a blog was to share my art and my sister's poems.
That, and it's just fun to brag that I have a blog!
I hope you guys think it's funny. If not, there's something wrong with you because I'm stink in' funny!
And I have ninjas standing behind you.
Now, there's a 99% chance that I'm lying. But do you want to take that risk?
Choose wisely.
Another thing you should know about me is that I love superheroes!
Mainly DC, but I also love Marvel.
I'd like to get you're opinion - who's better, Iron Man or Batman?
(By the way, there is a right answer!) Post your answer in the comments section.

A few of my drawings;

My Paper Pal

For you created my inmost being, you knit me together
in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.    Psalm 139

I'm Maddie, and I'm a teen aged nomad.
Writer, nerd, fan girl, freak, army brat, potter head, weirdo, geek.
Proud of all my titles, but I'd like people to call me Jinx.
It has two meanings. First, I am extremely unlucky. The first time I did something fan girl bold,
without being shy, was when I was hiding in a bush at the park. I heard someone approaching and thought it was a friend. So I yelled, "Who dareth to trespass on sacred ground?"
It was a complete stranger.
Not my finest hour.
The other meaning for the word Jinx is my love of fairy tales, like the Grimm stories. Stories with a darker side. My favorite bedtime stories are ghost stories. And my best "imaginary" friend is a monster.
A bit about myself; I am a firm believer in the healing power of tea. Cookies should always be eaten when they are warm and chewy. Panda's make the best stuffed animals.
I'm a christian.
Music means a lot to me. Two favorite bands are Imagine Dragons, and Owl City.
I believe that rap is like scissors, in that it always looses to rock.
I love scarecrows, ravens, science and stories.
And last, but not least, I love pumpkins!
Candles, pie, coffee, bread - everything pumpkin.
Pumpkins are adorable, same as mushrooms. That probably came from Lewis Carroll, though.
I devour any (good) books that I can get my hands on.
By the way - vampires do not sparkle! They burn. Everyone knows that!

Below is what I think is one of my best poems.

The Harvest Moon

Why do so many fear the moon?
Why do so many run?
Why do they turn on their lights so soon?
Why do they favor the sun?

The moon brings a haunting beauty.
It casts a silvery light.
It whispers a lullaby to me,
amidst the dead of night.

Though eerie it is spectacular.
It gives me a chill.
It fills me with wonder, creativity.
It makes the world stand still.

The moon beams in autumn.
Is there any more breathtaking sight,
Than the leaves in cold wind blowing,
As the harvest moon shines at night?

When the leaves change,
Red, orange, gold,
I know it may seem strange,
but it whispers of stories to be told.

If you love the moon beams on a water ripple,
The wind beginning to sing,
The sweet taste of apples,
The flash of a crows wing,

If you ponder deeply on things most would not see,
Or a raven seems to stare,
And you like dark secrets and mystery,
And the full moon seems to care,

If you long for sights unseen,
And stories left untold,
Then you might be like me,
And the night is in your soul.
